Cancun, Q.R. — The Mexican long weekend created a busy international airport in Cancun. Between Saturday and Sunday, the airport managing company Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) reported over 1,000 flights.
On Saturday alone, 566 flights were reported in and out of the state’s northern airport as visitors arrived to enjoy the long three-day weekend. On Sunday, the airport reported another 507 with 73 national flights and 180 international.
National tourists participating in the three-day beach weekend arrived from Acapulco, Aguascalientes, Bajío, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Mexicali, Monterrey, Puebla, Querétaro, Reynosa, San Luis Potosí, Tijuana, Tuxtla, Veracruz and Villahermosa.
ASUR reported a total of 1,073 flights in and out of Cancun International between Saturday and Sunday, making it the second busiest in the country.
