Cancun, Q.R. — After breaking a one-day operational record earlier this month, the Cancun International Airport has set another new record. On Saturday, airport authorities announced 719 operations in a single day, breaking the previously set record of 660 earlier this month.
According to figures released by airport managing company ASUR, Cancun International recorded 354 arrivals and 365 departures. Of the arrivals, 114 were national and 240 international. The departures consisted of 114 within the country and 251 abroad.
On social media, Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama also acknowledged the new record.
“With a new agreement, we will continue making history in Quintana Roo and we will ensure that the success and diversification of tourism bring prosperity and social justice to the entire state,” she wrote.
On December 3, Cancun International set a new single-day operational record with 660. It was the busiest day for the airport since 2018.
On March 31 of 2018, Cancun International set a single day record of 659 operations, a record that stood until December 3 when ASUR reported the 660 single day operations and the processing of 129,000 passengers.
