Cancun driver transporting boxes of cannabis arrested by Yucatan police

Merida, Q.R. — A man driving a Quintana Roo-plated van was arrested by Yucatan SSP for transporting drugs. The check-stop and subsequent arrest happened Tuesday night at an SSP highway checkpoint in the neighboring state of Yucatan.

Elements of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) assigned to the Peninsular State Highway Police of Yucatan arrested a 25-year-old male after he was found transporting over 100 bags of marijuana.

The Urvan he was driving was pulled over by SSP officials and inspected at a Cancun-Merida highway checkpoint. Inside the van authorities reported finding “cardboard boxes with more than a hundred bags of cannabis”. The vehicle, they reported, was “a Nissan Urvan truck with Quintana Roo license plates.”

Driver Josmar Rolando “S”, 25 and from Cancun, was taken into custody by SSP Yucatan.
