Canadian fugitive wanted for drug smuggling sent back to Ontario from Mexico

Mexico City, Mexico — A Canadian fugitive who has been wanted by Ontario law enforcement since 2015 has finally been extradited back to Canada. On Tuesday, the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) reported on the extradition of Alyas “R”.

According to the FGR, Alyas “R” was wanted by the Superior Court of Justice of the Province of Ontario on drug charges. The agency reported that between January and March of 2015, Alyas “R” and others smuggled drugs to Canada from the United States.

In October 2017, Alyas “R” was located and detained in Mexico City where he has remained imprisoned since his arrest. After complying with the process, the Government of Mexico granted the extradition of Alyas “R” to the Government of Canada.

He was handed over to Canadian law enforcement authorities at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) from where he was transferred back to Canada to face charges.
