Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen mayor Lili Campos will see to it that public cameras around the city are connected to the C5 centre in Cancun. Out of the 11 surveillance poles in the center, none of them are actually operating.
In May 2020, the video surveillance network stopped working in neuralgic points of the tourist area of Playa del Carmen including Fifth Avenue. Currently, there are only three cameras located in Parque Fundadores, none of which work.
Campos highlighted the lack of security that currently exists on Fifth Avenue, along with the null operation and the poor condition of the few camera poles installed by the previous administration.
She said in coming months, she will be working with governor Carlos Joaquín González to implement proper security.
