Cozumel, Q.R. — Starting Monday, the island of Cozumel will begin receiving more than 30 cruise ships scheduled for the week. According to the Comprehensive Port Administration (Apiqroo), the island is scheduled to receive 32 ships March 4 to 10.
From the schedule, three ships are set to arrive Monday the 4th, followed by five for Tuesday and eight each Wednesday and Thursday. The weekend will see a slight slowdown with two ships per day scheduled to dock Cozumel on both Friday and Saturday and the arrival of another four Sunday.
Governor Mara Lezama says the arrival of the ships strengthens the island’s tourist activity, as well as provides greater economic benefits and jobs.
Regarding passenger transportation at the port of Cozumel, Apiqroo reports from January 1 to February 25, of this year, 260 cruise ships have already arrived with 880,665 passengers.
In relation to the same period in 2023, it represents a growth of 6.6% in the arrival of cruise ships and 17.4% in the number of passengers.
This year’s estimate is the arrival of 1,294 cruise ships with 4,398,560 passengers. 2023 closed with 1,156 cruises and 4,089,054 passengers.
