Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The body of six-year-old child that was reported missing Wednesday evening has been found. Authorities reported locating the body of the girl in the courtyard of a private residence.
The owner of the property, Carlos L, is in police custody.
On Wednesday evening, the family of the missing girl issued a missing person’s report. She was last seen near her home Wednesday afternoon in the Zacil-Ha neighborhood of central Playa del Carmen.
The State Attorney General, Óscar Montés de Oca, said that the report of her disappearance was made to 911 Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at which time, a search began. It was door-to-door interviews that lead police to their discovery Thursday morning.
“Unfortunately the minor was found dead. A person has been detained, he owns the home,” he said adding that “he tried to bury her in a part of the garden.”
Upon the search of a private home, police found the girl’s body buried in the back yard. An autopsy will reveal the official cause of death.
In a briefing, the FGE posted “The FGE Quintana Roo reports that Carlos “L” was presented to the Public Ministry prosecutor for his probable participation in the deprivation of the life of a minor person with a reserved identity who was reported missing Wednesday the 29.
“The Attorney General, Mtro Óscar Montes de Oca, went to the scene where the lifeless body of the minor was located, in the Zacil-Ha neighborhood, to supervise the investigative acts carried out by elements of the PDI and experts to gather evidence.”
