Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The body of a man believed dead four days was located at the bottom of an elevator shaft. Solidaridad police verified the report of the dead body of 35-year-old José “N” who was found by a fellow construction site coworker.
The man, a bricklayer and worker at the site, was found dead at the bottom of an under-construction elevator shaft of an apartment building in central Playa del Carmen. Police were at the 48th Street and CTM Avenue construction site in Colosio Thursday to verify the finding after a worker noticed a foul odor.
Municipal Civil Protection inspectors were at the scene where the worker fell several meters to his death. Solidaridad firemen were brought in for a vertical retrieval of the body to the surface.
The work site has since been closed by Civil Protection.
