Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — An out-of-control tire fire erupted on a private property in Playa del Carmen Thursday, sending smoke for kilometers. Firemen were on scene to dose flames after citizen concerns of large plumes of black smoke was reported.
The afternoon fire was located on a property along Jacinto Canek Avenue registered as a tire storage facility. Jorge Robles Aguilar, head of the Public Safety and Municipal Traffic dispatch, sent firemen to deal with the situation.
They were quick to put out the flames. Aguilar noted that there was no need for an evacuation, nor were there any reported injuries. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
