Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — One person was transferred to PDC hospital from a car that was hit by a dump truck. Emergency services were at the scene of the highway crash north of Playa del Carmen Saturday.

The two vehicles collided when, according to reports, the driver of the dump truck tried to merge into highway traffic without stopping. The industrial truck was leaving a hotel property with a load of sargassum when the driver failed to stop for oncoming traffic.
The driver of the compact car hit by the dump truck was taken to a Playa del Carmen hospital from his destroyed car. The driver of the truck was not injured. His vehicle suffered only a flattened tire.
Traffic was affected while paramedics worked and National Guard Highways had two both vehicles towed.
