Bacalar’s Director of Tourism reporting high reservation rate for summer holidays

Bacalar, Q.R. — The municipality of Bacalar is nearing hotel occupancy capacity for the first week of summer vacation. Edmundo Hiram Gómez Coyoc, Bacalar’s Director of Tourism, says reservations are near 90 percent.

He says the municipality is anticipating a busy summer in their 132 hotels with 1,200 rooms, something they hope continues into the second half of the year.

Coyco says that the municipality, with its Lagoon of Seven colors, has become a complement to other nearby destinations such as Mahahual and Chetumal in the neighboring municipality of Othón P. Blanco.
