Bacalar, Q.R. — Police were called to the scene of the discovery of a bagged body in the municipality of Bacalar. On Sunday morning, a passersby found a body wrapped in nylon bags.
The discovery was made at the entrance to the community of Caan Luumil shortly before 9:00 a.m. The woman who found the body reported seeing something unusual among other plastic bags on the side of the road.
When she looked closer, she realized it was a human body. Police responding to the 9-1-1 report arrived to verify the finding. The body is said to be of an adult male.
Personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office collected evidence before the body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for a possible identification and official cause of death.
