Bacalar men reported kidnapped found alive by authorities

Bacalar, Q.R. — A Bacalar journalist who was reported as being kidnapped Saturday with two others, has been found alive. On Sunday, police issued a search and rescue mission to help locate the missing man.

Around 17 hours after he went missing, he was found alive.

Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) of Quintana Roo issued a brief statement saying “Derived from the operation implemented to search for and locate people, the Coordination Group for the Construction of Peace and Security in Quintana Roo reports that the last person missing in the municipality of Bacalar was found alive.

“This person is safe, like the two people located yesterday. The corresponding investigations will continue to ascertain the facts.”

The man identified as Jimmy “P”, was returning from horseback riding with two friends when they were allegedly abducted at gunpoint. His vehicle was found abandoned along a stretch of highway the same day.

A search team located the two friends before finally finding the third man. Police have not provided details surrounding the alleged abduction of the three men or where they were found.
