Bacalar, Q.R. — Negotiations continue between the government and Ejidos with the opening of the Xcabal archaeological site. Ramón Javier Padilla Balam, Secretary of the Bacalar City Council says Xcabal could be a site that could bring tourists to the area.
He says they continue to negotiate on parking, merchant areas and ticket sales, among other issues, in order to open the site to the public, however, the lack of agreements until now have kept the site closed.
Balam said the Bacala City Council only acts to mediate negotiations to the extent that the municipal jurisdiction allows.
“We as a municipality are going to participate and help so that it happens in the best of terms. Work is being done on the requests made by the Ejido for a parking concession,” he said.
He added that the opening of the Xcabal archaeological site would be a complement to the Maya Train, which makes it important to open.
