Bacalar, Q.R. — A worker was left for dead in Bacalar Sunday after being struck by a vehicle that kept going. Paramedics were called to help the man who coworkers say was hit by a car.
The accident happened Sunday around 2:00 p.m. in the Nuevo Progreso neighborhood of the town of Bacalar. The worker had walked off a construction site to cross the street for a bucket of water when he was hit. The driver kept going.
Witnesses said their coworker was suddenly struck by a speeding car as he was crossing. Other workers from the construction site tried to help. Police and paramedics came, however, the struck man had already died.
Police officers launched a search operation to locate the responsible vehicle, but came up empty handed.
