Riviera Maya, Q.R. — During the recent Acapulco Tourism Tianguis, Quintana Roo was given two awards that recognized Bacalar and Isla Mujeres for their uniqueness.
The State Secretary of Tourism, Bernardo Cueto, representing Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, was in charge of receiving the awards in an event that highlighted the diversity and tourist attraction of these destinations in the Mexican Caribbean.
Bacalar was awarded as “Best Magical Health and Wellness Town,” while Isla Mujeres was recognized as “Magnificent Beachfront Town.”
Bacalar, with its emblematic Laguna de los Siete Colores not only captivates with its natural beauty, but also stands out for its focus on sustainable tourism and historical and cultural wealth.
On the other hand, Isla Mujeres was awarded for its Blue Flag beaches, one of which, Playa Norte, is considered one of the best beaches globally and was positioned as a preferable destination for those seeking an exceptional by-the-sea experience.
These awards highlight the natural beauty and tourism offering of the state and are also part of the New Era of Tourism in Quintana Roo with unique experiences and new connectivity with improved infrastructure.
The event was attended by the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Miguel Torruco, and the Governor of Baja California, María del Pilar Ávila, as well as several tourism secretaries from around the country.
