Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Authorities have revealed that the body found Tuesday inside a suitcase is of a woman. However, she has not been publicly identified. Playa del Carmen police found the suitcase Tuesday afternoon after responding to a 911 report.
Inside was the dismembered body of an adult woman. In a news briefing, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) says they have begun an investigation into her death after the grisly discovery was made in the El Campestre neighborhood.
The Prosecutor’s Office says they are continuing to collect evidence to identify the victim and those responsible. On Tuesday, the suitcase was discovered at 6:40 p.m. off a street in the El Campestre residential subdivision of Playa del Carmen.
Inside was the dismembered body of the woman. She was found after a passerby identified a human hand sticking out of the case.
