Cozumel, Q.R. — During the month of August, all of Cozumel’s cruise docks will be back in full operation. Head of the Administración Portuaria Integral de Quintana Roo (Apiqroo), Alicia Ricalde Magaña, announced the reactivation of the Punta Langosta pier, which will resume operations on August 20 with the arrival of Norwegian Gem.
After a year and three months of suspending the arrival of cruise ships in the Mexican Caribbean due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, the SSA Mexico terminal was the first to resume operations on June 16 with the Adventure of the Seas and Puerta Maya, the second, on July 8 with the arrival of Carnival Vista.
The general director explained that when Punta Langosta is reactivated, the island of Cozumel will be back in full operation, having received ships on all its docks. She added that the Norwegian Gem will set sail from Miami, Florida, making stops in Roatán, Harvest Caye, Costa Maya, Cozumel before returning to her port of departure.
She added that the reactivation of all the island’s cruise docks, and especially the gradual increase in the arrival of cruise ships, is a clear sign of the confidence that cruise lines have in Cozumel as a destination, as well as the preference that visitors have toward the island.
