Cancun, Q.R. — A highway accident between a Playa Express van and a Mayab bus has left at least 10 people injured.
The accident occurred shortly before dawn on the Cancun-Playa del Carmen highway at the height of Petempich Bay where a public combi collided with a Mayab line bus. The 6:00 a.m. accident caused early morning traffic chaos toward Playa del Carmen as police and ambulances arrived to deal with the situation and tend to those injured.
Preliminary reports say that the Playa Express van, which was coming from Cancun, rear-ended the Mayab bus, leaving the front of the express van completely destroyed. Inside, at least 10 people were reported injured and taken to various hospitals, with one person being listed as serious.
