Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua — An American man found with a loaded gun, cash and handful of narcotics has been arrested at the border. On Thursday, the unnamed man arrived at the International Bridge in Ciudad Juárez from the American state of New Mexico.
An inspection of his vehicle revealed the drugs and gun along with $8,800 USD or around 170,000 Mexican peso. The discovery and subsequent arrest was made by elements of the National Guard in coordination with the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM).
According to the National Guard report, the man “intended to enter national territory in possession of a firearm, cartridges, apparent crystal and 8,800 US dollars, equivalent to more than 170,000 pesos.
“During a prevention and surveillance inspections at the International Bridge in Ciudad Juárez, staff had contact with a New Mexico license plated vehicle, which entered the country through the automated selection lane, which had a red light on the fiscal semaphore and was subject to a customs review,” they explained.
