Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The Comprehensive Port Administration of Quintana Roo (Apiqroo) reports more than 3.1 million ferry passengers during the first half of the year. The general director of Apiqroo, Alicia Ricalde Magaña says the ferries, which cover the Playa del Carmen-Cozumel and Puerto Juárez-Isla Mujeres routes, have shown great strides in tourist advancements.
She says from January to June of this year, the Playa del Carmen-Cozumel route has recorded the movement of 1,171,207 passengers, while 1,940,101 users have been recorded on the Puerto Juárez-Isla Mujeres route.
Ricalde Magaña stressed that these increases are the result of the promotional efforts led by the governor of Quintana Roo, Carlos Joaquín González, which contribute to the economic and tourist reactivation of the state.
She recalled that since April 2021, there has been a progressive increase in passenger movement noting a continual increase as the months pass, adding that the increasing figures are a clear sign that progress is being made in the economic and tourist reactivation in Quintana Roo.
