La Barca, Jalisco — Numerous wild animals have been seized from a property in La Barca, Jalisco. The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR) says that a search warrant was issued for the property for the illegal possession of wildlife.
The animals were spotted on the property by elements of the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA) during a surveillance tour. The property is located on a dirt road that leads to San José de las Moras, in La Barca.
Consequently, they made it known to the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) who requested the search procedure for the property.
Authorities arrived and seized animals that included two antelopes, a llama, 10 tigers, three of them cubs, six jaguars, five lions, two red deer, two Harris eagles, one emu bird, three caracara birds, one raven, two pelicans, three vultures, nine red-backed parakeets, one cacomixtle, four kramer parrots, two multicolored parakeets and two raccoons.
The owner of the property was arrested and made available to the MPF, who will continue with the corresponding investigation for the crime of illegal possession of wildlife.
