Bacalar, Q.R. — At least two communities in the municipality of Bacalar were left without power Thursday after lines were downed. The downed power lines resulted in a highway road block of angry residents.
Residents from the communities of Chacchoben and Limones were left without electricity after a dump truck hit a power pole. The incident happened around noon Thursday on section 5 south of the Maya Train.
It is not known how the truck came to knock down the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) pole. However, the downed pole cut power to hundreds of homes and businesses between the two communities.
Residents blocked the road out of constant blackout frustration.
