Mexico City, Mexico — President Andrés Manuel López Obrador says president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum will be the best president in the world.
Heading up the morning press conference Wednesday, he predicted that the virtual president-elect has capabilities and attributes that will allow her to surpass the popularity of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, who occupies first place on the list of global leaders of the American pollster Morning Consult.
“Minister Modi, who is our friend, should prepare himself because the next president of Mexico is going to beat him,” he said.
“Once Claudia Sheinbaum assumes the presidency of Mexico, she will soon become the best president in the world. (…) I know most of the presidents or I know of them, of the prime ministers, heads of state, of Asia, of Africa, of Europe, of America and I know what I am saying,” said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
López Obrador says the first female president of Mexico will be “a woman of the nation,” prepared and intelligent with ideals and principles who obtained the support of 36 million women and men who voted in the last presidential election in June based on her leadership.
“It is exceptional, the best thing that could have happened to the country, to Mexico. I am not speaking as a member of a transformation movement to which she belongs and we were precursors of that movement.
“I am not only speaking about that. I am speaking about the general interest. I am speaking about all the people of Mexico, about my wish that things go well for all of us and I am optimistic about Claudia’s arrival,” he said Wednesday.
“It is a great blessing that we Mexicans can have the peace of mind that we are going to have an extraordinary president, a woman of the nation, not just a woman of state, because before we talked about a man of state, but no.
“The most important thing is to be a man of the nation, but in this case, it is not just a woman of state of the first order, but a woman of the nation. (…) The next government will be better, much better and the best in the world,” he stressed.
After handing over the presidential sash on October 1, the head of the Executive estimated that the country’s public life will remain stable and even improve after having laid the foundations for the transformation movement in almost six years.
President López Obrador recalled that Dr. Sheinbaum Pardo will also promote Programs for Well-being and projects of significance such as passenger trains to the north of the country and the construction of housing for young workers, a plan that will be financed with savings generated by not allowing corruption.
He explained that the National Workers’ Housing Fund Institute (Infonavit) has a reserve of 800 billion pesos.
The projects of the next six-year term, he said, will create thousands of jobs and conditions of well-being among the population.
