Huehuetán, Chiapas — An American man with alleged terrorist ties on Interpol’s list has been arrested in a town in the state of Chiapas.
In a press release, la Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) says elements of the Federal Ministerial Police, in coordination with agents of the National Migration Institute in Huehuetan, arrested the U.S. citizen who was listed on Interpol.
The FGR says that the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States has data that the American man, identified as Mohammed A, is related to extremist groups. He was arrested in the town of Huehuetán, which rests near the border of Guatemala.
He was processed by INM before being deported back to the United States. The FGE says Mohammed A was wanted in the state of Washington.
