Morelia, Michoacán — An American man wanted for child abduction in the state of California has been captured in Mexico. Police say Jonathan “N” was wanted by authorities in the state of California for his involvement in the kidnapping of his son.
“As part of international cooperation efforts, the Attorney General (FGE) of the State of Michoacán arrested Jonathan “N” who was wanted by authorities in the state of California for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of his son,” they reported Thursday.

“The suspect was located in the municipality of Tarímbaro, where he was hiding to evade justice. As a result of intelligence and surveillance work, his whereabouts were determined and he was arrested,” they added.
Police said his capture involved the United States Department of Justice, through the United States Marshals Service, via the Investigative Operations Division of the Liaison Office in Mexico based at the United States Embassy in Mexico.
His location and arrest was part of the bilateral cooperation mechanisms in the area of law enforcement.
“During the operation, the child was located and taken into protective custody by authorities, ensuring his safety. He will later be handed over to the appropriate agencies to continue with the applicable legal and protection protocols,” the FGE reported.
Jonathan “N” is currently being processed and the necessary procedures carried out for his extradition to the authorities in the United States who have requested his extradition.
