Chicxulub Puerto, Yucatan — The body of a missing American woman has been found in a nightclub area in the seaside town of Chicxulub Puerto. The 71 year old was reported missing April 17 from the town where she lived. Her son is the main suspect in her death.
The body of Linda Louise Johnston was found by State Investigative Police (PEI) Tuesday, five days after she went missing. She was reported missing April 17 by a neighbor friend. During the missing person’s report, the neighbor also told police that Linda had been physically assaulted by her son days before.
Yucatan police issued an Alba (missing persons) Alert after the April 17 report. On April 22, Yucatan police reported finding the body of Linda Johnston near a nightclub zone of the town of Chicxulub Puerto.
According to her niece Audra “N”, Linda disappeared from her home on April 16, 2025 after allegedly being strangled by her son Damon “M” who has a documented history of violent behavior.
In Linda’s last messages to her niece, she told her she was afraid and was hiding in her locked room. She had not been seen or heard from since. Ms. Johnston was from Texas.
According to local media, her body was found dismembered. Linda Louise Johnston was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force.
In a statement, Yucatan police said “agents from the State Investigation Police (PEI) of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP), in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), found the body of L.L.J., a U.S. citizen, reported missing last Thursday, the 17th.
“That day, a neighbor and friend of the victim, who lives in the Port of Chicxulub, municipality of Progreso, called the 911 emergency number to report her missing. In the call, she stated that the now deceased had been beaten days earlier by her own son.
“Immediately after receiving the report, the SSP’s C5i Control Center alerted the local units and the PEI (Intelligent Police Force), which in turn coordinated with the Attorney General’s Office to begin joint investigations. An Alba Alert was issued to inform the public about the incident.
“On Tuesday, members of the State Police and the State Attorney General’s Office found the body in Chicxulub Puerto near the so-called nightclub zone. At this time, authorities cannot provide further information because the investigation has not concluded. The investigation is still open until the facts are fully clarified and the person(s) responsible are arrested.
“Authorities acknowledge and appreciate the valuable collaboration of business owners and residents of Chicxulub Puerto who provided videos and information important to the investigation.”
Chicxulub Puerto is a small coastal town in the municipality of Progreso in the Mexican state of Yucatan.
