Cozumel, Q.R. — American Airlines says it will reopen its Miami-Cozumel flight route starting October. The reopening of the route will allow travelers direct access to the island.
As of October 3, five weekly flights will begin to service the Miami-Cozumel route said Darío Flota Ocampo, director of the Promotion Tourist Council of Quintana Roo. The announcement came during a meeting with American Airline executives at its headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
Darío Flota Ocampo, accompanied by the director of promotion of the agency, Lizzie Cole Guerrero, held a meeting with American Airlines executives as part of the tourism promotion actions to continue attracting more visitors to Quintana Roo through the three International airports in the state, Chetumal, Cozumel and Cancún.
He explained that this decision was made during a meeting with the executives of the company held in Dallas where the route plans and the scheduling of itineraries to the airports of Cancun, as well as Cozumel, were reviewed.
“Next year we will have important growth due to the increase in demand for trips to Cancun, and now with this announcement from the airline, we have a better outlook,” he added.
