Cancun, Q.R. — The Director of ADO Mobility says the company is currently moving around 18,000 passengers a day from their central Cancun terminal. Julio García Flores says some of their busiest routes are to Merida and Chetumal.
He says that while it is often best to prepurchase tickets, he advises passengers to prepurchase tickets to Merida and Chetumal due to the heavy demand. Figures from this holiday season exceed last year’s by around 20 percent, he added.
Flores says that they anticipate an even higher passenger flow as the New Year approaches. Flores, who heads the Autobuses de Oriente (ADO) for the Caribbean Region, said that other busy routes from Cancun include Mexico City, Puebla and Veracruz in addition to the high demand routes from Cancun to Merida and Chetumal.
“To this is added the mobility that we provide from the Cancun Airport which, on average, is 7,000 people per day to the center of the city as well as to Playa del Carmen,” he explained.
The ADO manager said that other routes, such as those to Chiquilá for access to Holbox, are beginning to get busier as people head north to celebrate the New Year.
“We have noticed a significant increase in the mobility of national tourism, especially from the center of the country, which allows us to report positive figures,” he commented.
