Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — An additional police filter over the federal highway is one of the new security investments planned for Solidaridad. Mayor Estefanía Mercado made the announcement as a result of a recent city hall meeting.
She says that during the Technical Committee meeting, a series of investments aimed at improving security and public services in Playa del Carmen were approved. Among the approved projects is the construction of an additional police filter arch over the 307 Federal Highway as well as the acquisition of 68 used patrol cars.
Mercado says the arch will cost around 40 million pesos and the 68 vehicles, 19 million.
The Mayor explained that the main purpose of the structure is to implement a comprehensive system of surveillance cameras at the entrance to the city. In addition, the access arch will be designed as a welcome point that represents the cultural and tourist identity of Playa del Carmen.
During the session, nearly 169 million pesos were also approved to improve public services, focusing mainly on garbage collection and the rental of solid waste collection trucks, for the benefit of the community of Solidaridad.
