Additional filters in place as UK flight lands at Cancun International

Cancun, Q.R. — After announcing Mexico will not be closing its borders to UK travelers, a flight from London landed at the Cancun International Airport. Strict health measures were in place as the plane’s 270 passengers entered the airport Tuesday.

Quintana Roo governor Carlos Joaquín González, explained that in the face of the Coronavirus epidemic, attention is being paid to what is happening around the world.

“We must be attentive to what is happening around the world. We are very aware of the arrival of English visitors to Quintana Roo. For this reason, we have installed revision and diagnostic filters at the Cancun Airport. We will continue to pay attention to taking care of health,” he said.

On Tuesday afternoon, a UK flight carrying 270 passengers landed at the Cancun International Airport. Joaquin said that an international health review operation was implemented that included the installation of 20 care modules for the passengers and there was no confirmed case of contagion.

He also said that Quintana Roo cannot prevent the arrival of planes from this region, as there would have to be a notice from the Ministry of Foreign Relations.

On Monday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that for the moment, there is no decision for Mexico to ban flights from the United Kingdom after the discovery of the new strain of coronavirus.
