Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A dozen people were taken into custody Monday for drug dealing near a popular Playa del Carmen beach area. The State Attorney General’s Office reports the arrest of the 12 who were handcuffed during a joint operation between the Quintana Roo Police and elements of the Investigative Police during a surveillance tour.
The FGE says the arrests were made near the beach area of a residential community. “The defendants were surprised and in flagrance when they realized police presence…they showed an evasive attitude and their intention to flee.”
A review of each person revealed drugs and cash. In total, police confiscated street doses of marijuana and cocaine along with $693 USD and 2,900 peso. The drug bust took place near the beach outside the residential community of Playacar.
