10 million peso paving project announced for Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A 10 million peso residential paving project has been announced for west Playa del Carmen. Mayor Estefanía Mercado announced Monday the paving of Mayapán Avenue in the Tumben Chilam neighborhood.

“As I promised during my campaign, I am here to announce a very important project: the improvement of the section of Mayapán Avenue between Paseo del Mayab Avenue and Balam Street for the benefit of thousands of residents of the Tumben Chilam, Cataluña, Marsella, Palmas II and Porto Alto neighborhoods,” she said.

Mercado says the paving project is not just an infrastructure project, but a response to the needs of the families of Solidaridad so that they have decent, safe streets in suitable conditions for traffic.

“Every meter of paving we lay will be more than a public investment, it will be an opportunity to build stories of dignity and prosperity for all,” she said.

The money for the project will come from the Fund for Municipal Strengthening and Territorial Demarcations of the Federal District (Fortamun). Tenders for the project will be carried out in a timely manner and in accordance with the law, ensuring that public resources are used responsibly and efficiently, she added.

The Secretary of Infrastructure and Public Works, Doris Aké Sierra, explained that the project consists of paving 198 linear meters with lighting, curbs and sidewalks.

Mayapan Avenue, which is currently a dirt road, is the main gateway into numerous new residential areas in west Playa del Carmen.
